The Next Right Step Recovery Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP) empowers individuals to break cycles of violence through accountability, education, and evidence-based intervention—one decision at a time.

Who This Program Is For
This program is designed for adults (18+) who have used violence, abuse, or controlling behaviors against intimate partners or family members. Participants may be court-mandated or self-referred.
Program Overview
The Next Right Step Recovery DVIP is a 36-week, trauma-informed, psychoeducational intervention model designed to promote accountability, behavioral change, and community safety.

Service Area
We serve central and southeast Nebraska including York, Fillmore, Hamilton, Clay, Polk, Seward, Butler, Thayer, Jefferson, Saline, and surrounding counties.
Evidence-Based Curriculum
Our program utilizes a blended curriculum model incorporating three evidence-based frameworks:
1. The Duluth Model (DAIP)
- Power and Control Wheel analysis
- Equality Wheel framework
- Accountability exercises focused on coercive control and victim impact
2. Emerge Model
- Behavioral accountability techniques
- Empathy development exercises
- Cognitive-behavioral interventions to address distorted thinking
3. Crossroads
- Cultural awareness and responsiveness
- Trauma integration without excusing abuse
- Personalized change planning for diverse populations

Victim Safety Protocols
Our Commitment to Safety
Victim/survivor safety is the highest priority in all program operations. We maintain strict protocols to protect victims and coordinate with victim service providers.
- No Direct Victim Contact: DVIP staff never contact victims/survivors directly
- Victim Notification: All victim communication occurs through authorized victim service providers within 72 hours of enrollment
- Risk Assessment: Standardized lethality assessment at intake and ongoing monitoring
- Mandatory Reporting: Compliance with all Nebraska mandatory reporting laws

Program Fees

Sliding scale available with income verification. No one is denied services due to inability to pay.
Completion Requirements
Successful completion of the program requires:
- Attendance of at least 32 out of 36 sessions (88.8%)
- Active participation and engagement in all sessions
- Completion of all assignments
- No new domestic violence arrests during program
- Demonstrated understanding of accountability concepts
- Payment plan completion or sliding scale compliance

We accept referrals from:
- Court-mandated participants
- Nebraska Probation Districts 5, 9, and 10
- DHHS Child Protective Services
- Self-referrals
- Community agencies
Program Leadership
Brandon Hinrichs, Program Director
Brandon brings 15+ years of experience in behavioral health, criminal justice systems, and family services. He currently serves as Director of In-Home Services at Epworth Family Resources (a registered DHHS provider) and maintains active partnerships with Nebraska Probation Districts 5, 9, and 10.
